Week in Review: When war hits your radiology department | Body composition analysis | New FAPI tracer

Dear AuntMinnieEurope member,

Over four years of war, radiology departments in Ukraine have had to deal with many threats, including direct attacks, power outages, a lack of supplies, and staff loss. At ECR 2026, presentations and video interviews described the experience of radiology under wartime conditions and shared how colleagues can help.

Body composition analysis on CT exams can yield significant prognostic information for patients, but the technique isn’t often utilized in clinical practice. In another session at ECR 2026, presenters reviewed the benefits of body composition analysis and the barriers to widespread use.

In research out of Germany, a new fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI)-PET radiotracer was shown to demonstrate consistently high uptake across diverse solid malignancies. We’re also highlighting a feature article this week on European Training Requirements in radiology.

How can radiology help decrease its carbon footprint? An ECR 2026 session shared several practical actions for radiology departments.
