Week in Review: neuroRAD 2026 coverage | JFR 2026 | AI and turnaround times

Dear AuntMinnie Europe member,

The busy congress season in Europe continues this week with neuroRAD 2026, the French national radiology congress (JFR 2026), and the annual meeting of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EUSOMII).

Our Associate Editor Claudia Tschabuschnig is among the more than 1,100 attendees of neuroRAD 2026, the annual meeting of the German Society of Neuroradiology (DGNR). The next generation of radiologists is taking center stage in Mainz, according to her report and a video interview with one of neuroRAD’s congress presidents Dr. Katharina Wenger-Alakmeh.

You also won’t want to miss our video interview with Prof. Dr. Jennifer Linn of the University Hospital Dresden on hospital reform and the future of neuroradiology, as well as another interview with Dr. Wenger-Alakmeh on developments in advanced imaging techniques. We’ve also compiled a photo gallery from neuroRAD 2026.

Speaking of AI, the technology is also prominent on the agenda of JFR 2026, which kicked off on 8 October in Paris. The technology’s use in emergency imaging has been a particular point of emphasis so far. In case you missed it, we also recently interviewed Professor Isabelle Thomassin-Naggara, president of this year's JFR, for a meeting preview.

In other news, a study conducted over 4.5 years among 20 outpatient imaging centers in Switzerland found that a multivendor AI system can significantly reduce median trauma radiography report turnaround times.

Please see below for our full list of top stories of the week.
