Dear AuntMinnie Europe member,
This week is EU Screening Week, and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) has taken the opportunity to launch a public awareness campaign aimed at putting prevention and early detection in the spotlight.
The initiative -- “Radiology saves lives. Get screened.” -- has four areas of focus: cardiovascular screening, breast cancer screening, lung cancer screening, and prostate cancer screening. You can find all of the details here.
Meanwhile, the annual European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) meeting is underway in Maastricht, The Netherlands. The opening session demonstrated how x-ray imaging and advanced radiology techniques were revealing hidden details in centuries-old paintings.
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) teamed up this week with Nuclear Medicine Europe for their first joint European Nuclear Medicine Day. The 29 September event aimed to coordinate European action to improve access to nuclear medicine services.
MRI was also in the headlines, with articles on cardiac MRI-derived diastolic function metrics and MRI safety issues associated with mixed-brand cardiac implants generating significant page views.
Please see below for our full list of top stories from the week.
