Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,
AI stories are always popular on AuntMinnieEurope, and this week was no exception. Our most highly viewed article reported on a session at ECR 2026 that explored several key issues in radiology AI, including the dangerous problem of when AI and radiologists miss the same finding.
In late-breaking news this week, yet another study has reported success with an AI-supported breast cancer screening protocol that excluded low-risk mammograms and digital breast tomosynthesis exams from radiologist review. Researchers from Spain reported on 19 March that a strategy in which radiologists read about one-third of the total exams yielded a 15% increase in cancer detection rate while maintaining positive predictive value.
Meanwhile, four studies presented at the European Association of Urology (EAU) 2026 congress in London highlighted the progress made in the use of MRI for prostate cancer screening. Speaking of MRI, biomarkers for the modality are poised to reshape patient management for multiple sclerosis, according to a talk at ECR 2026.
