ECR 2026 attracted a record 22,418 participants from 121 countries, representing an increase of more than 9% compared with the previous year's attendance.
Held under the theme "Rays of Knowledge" at the Austria Center Vienna from 4 March to 8 March, the congress featured three plenary lectures covering AI in medical imaging, whole brain living, and liver imaging. AI remained a central focus of the program, explored through the AI Theatre, Pixel Pandemonium, and the In Focus series titled "The Art of Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Practice." Interventional radiology was also strongly represented, with new technologies showcased through dedicated sessions.
ECR 2026 introduced several new session formats, including "Out of the Box" sessions exploring imaging applications beyond medicine, a "How We Do It: Fundamentals of Radiological Practice" series, and multidisciplinary "Decoding the Diagnosis: Radiology Meets Pathology" sessions. The technical exhibition also hosted more than 220 companies.
