Women may need less frequent CT lung cancer screening
Women may need less frequent CT lung cancer screening than men, according to a study to be presented on 6 May at the European Lung Cancer Conference in Geneva. The finding could enable physicians to reduce CT screening frequency (and thus exposure to radiation) in women.

Photon-counting breast CT shows promise
Tests of a prototype photon-counting detector breast CT scanner show that the system could be useful as an adjunct to low-dose breast CT by separating the energy levels of different types of materials within the breast to assess tissue composition and improve cancer diagnosis.

Lung-RADS category 4X helps diagnose lung cancer
The addition of category 4X lesions in the Lung CT Screening Reporting and Data System (Lung-RADS) imaging scheme adds value and increases malignancy yields among experienced radiologists, according to a Dutch study in Radiology. The 4X nodules turn out to be malignant in half of cases.

Low doses can make DSCT cardiac perfusion routine
The latest generation dual-source CT (DSCT) scanner cuts the radiation dose of cardiac CT perfusion enough to make it suitable for daily practice, according to new research. Expanded z-axis coverage and better signal-to-noise ratios can offer more information on myocardial blood flow.

Unfilled vacancies and disparities persist in nuclear medicine
Nuclear medicine specialists have high career satisfaction, but unfilled vacancies and career disparities persist, find a workforce survey by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM).
Dual PET imaging in Case Two illustrates a patient with discordant disease. FDG PET (b & d) shows FDG uptake in tail of pancreas primary lesion (yellow arrow), as well as multiple hepatic metastases (yellow boxes), with enlarged liver span. DOTATATE PET on left (a) shows several hepatic metastases that do not demonstrate DOTATATE uptake above background of liver parenchyma. The liver lesions in (c) demonstrate moderate FDG uptake in liver lesions, with no corresponding DOTATATE avidity (white box) or central photopenia (white arrow). This discordance in dual PET imaging corresponds to a NETPET score of 5. This suggests de-differentiated disease and a less favorable prognosis. The patient was not suitable for Lutate treatment and received chemotherapy.

Right breast, 10 o’clock position, same patient: A 15 mm irregular hypoechoic solid lesion with suspicious morphology, situated approximately 6 mm from the index lesion. Biopsy confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma, Grade 2, ER positive, PR positive, HER2 positive, concordant with ultrasound features. Findings are in keeping with multifocal invasive ductal carcinoma in a heterogeneously dense breast. The patient was referred for surgical management.

Sagittal T2-weighted MRD image at maximal pelvic floor contraction (squeeze). The pubococcygeal line (PCL) serves as a reference line extending from the inferior border of the pubic symphysis to the last coccygeal joint. The H line represents the anteroposterior dimension of the levator hiatus, while the M line measures the perpendicular descent of the levator plate relative to the PCL. The midpubic line (MPL) provides an additional reference for anterior-posterior alignment. Identifiable pelvic structures include the pubic symphysis (Ps), rectum (R), and bladder (B).
