In this edition prostate MRI is getting on a diet, showing less is more. With PRISM, the first international consensus on screening prostate MRI: noncontrast, 15 minutes, T2 and diffusion only. It lands alongside a SERAM 2026 study showing biparametric MRI matches full multiparametric protocols while cutting scan time and cost, and a 12-month TPLA follow-up confirming MRI is reliable enough to guide retreatment decisions after focal ablation.

Elsewhere, two studies asked where AI actually earns its stripes. A brain MRI study found LLM assistance helps novice readers far more than neuroradiologists, while a Lund University team showed a nonlinear model made better use of patient history data than standard Cox regression, an argument for matching the tool to the data, not just adding AI everywhere.

We also featured two studies extracting new prognostic signal from routine whole-body MRI, linking muscle and fat composition to diabetes, cardiovascular, and mortality risk. Whole-body MRI, deep learning can 'map' distribution of fat and muscle and MRI reveals how hidden muscle fat increases risk to heart, metabolism, plus smaller studies using MRI to characterize placental contractions and brain changes in retired motorsport drivers

Finally, a German initiative focused on smaller patients that don't stand still, KidsMRI, aiming to make pediatric scans anesthesia-free, and a radiographer's case for treating the two minutes after a scan as clinically essential, not administrative dead time.
