German MedTech firm AB-CT -- Advanced Breast-CT has installed its nu:view spiral breast CT system at Malvern Breast Imaging in Melbourne, marking the first installation of the technology in Australia.
The nu:view system combines spiral CT acquisition with photon-counting detectors to produce superimposition-free, isotropic 3D imaging of the breast without compression. The exam is performed in the prone position with a radiation dose comparable to that of mammography, and voxel sizes as small as 90 µm support detection of microcalcifications. The system is listed for clinical use by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and is distributed locally by Epic-X, based in Sydney.
The nu:view system is already in clinical use at sites in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and South Korea, the company said. Malvern Breast Imaging is led by Dr. Narges Sobhani, who specializes in breast imaging.
