Brainomix highlights CT study using e-Lung software

Brainomix is highlighting a study showing that quantitative CT measures from the company's e-Lung tool identified radiological progression of pulmonary fibrosis an average of 16 months before clinical diagnosis.

The research was published in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society. The retrospective Revise-PPF study included 509 patients with fibrotic interstitial lung disease at the University of Chicago, Weill Cornell Medicine, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Using e-Lung, which is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and carries the CE Mark, researchers detected progression up to 28 months earlier at one center, as well as progression in a substantial proportion of patients categorized as clinically stable. A high baseline weighted reticulovascular score was associated with increased risk of future progressive pulmonary fibrosis, while a 1.5% change in total disease extent on serial CT scans was associated with increased mortality, the team found.

Boehringer Ingelheim funded the study. The company is continuing its collaboration with Brainomix through Progress-PPF, a prospective, multicenter U.S. study.
