Advanced Breast-CT (AB-CT) of Erlangen, Germany, has secured CE Mark certification for its breast CT scanner, nu:view.
Nu:view is based on spiral CT technology with cadmium telluride (CdTe) detectors, and combines high image resolution with low radiation dose and short scan times, AB-CT said. A single gantry rotation creates 2,000 images, and a full scan takes about seven to 12 seconds -- without breast compression.
AB-CT is a spinoff from the Institute for Medical Physics at the University of Erlangen, which is headed by Willi Kalender, PhD. Nu:view is already being used to image patients at the University Hospital Zurich in Switzerland, the company said.
