AB-CT announces spiral breast CT study

Advanced Breast-CT (AB-CT) in Germany announced that three medical centers will compare its spiral breast CT system nu:view with indications of MRI in breast diagnostics.

Radiologists at the University Hospital Erlangen, Leiden University Medical Center, and Martini Hospital in Groningen are participating in the prospective, nonrandomized, intraindividual, multicenter, multinational cohort study of 428 patients.

Led by Sabine Ohlmeyer, MD, at the University Medical Center Erlangen, Martin Wasser, MD, at Leiden UMC, and Arnoud Meijer, MD, at MZH Groningen, the study will compare contrast-enhanced breast CT with contrast-enhanced MRI in terms of BI-RADS classification at lesion level. In addition, patient questionnaires will be used to collect data on comfort, patient acceptance, duration, claustrophobia, and noise exposure of the two modalities.

The study is expected to last nine months with results, analysis, and a report expected later this year.
