Siemens Healthineers will invest €70 million to expand its site in Kemnath, Germany, with a new production and assembly hall for medical technology components. Construction broke ground on July 15.
The hall will have a total floor area of about 4,500 square meters, including 3,400 square meters of production space for radiotherapy components and about 300 square meters for logistics, according to the company. An additional 700 square meters in the existing building will also be modernized. The facility is scheduled to become operational by mid-2027 and will house a highly automated production center for large mechanical components, the firm said.
The new hall is designed for CO2-neutral operation, including an all-electric energy supply, LED lighting, connection to the site's existing heat supply, planned photovoltaic installations, and a retention roof for rainwater storage, Siemens noted.
