GE HealthCare (GEHC) has entered a strategic collaboration with Erasmus MC University Medical Center (Erasmus MC) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to evaluate next-generation total body positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) technology.
The evaluation will focus on protocol optimization, dose reduction, and dynamic imaging for oncology and theranostic applications.
“With GE HealthCare’s developing total body PET/CT technology, we aim to streamline clinical workflows while creating the capacity to push the boundaries of advanced research,” said Prof. Erik Verburg, professor of translational imaging at Erasmus MC. He added that theranostic treatments including indium-111 octreotide and lutetium-177 dotatate were first developed and brought into clinical practice at the facility.
The partners said that the collaboration also reflects their ongoing commitment to the Thera4Care initiative, a project focused on expanding access to theranostics across Europe through advancing the development of radiology-based diagnostics and therapies, and supporting their use and adoption.
