BIR signs three-year collaboration agreement with IAEA

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) has signed a three-year collaboration agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to strengthen cooperation in radiology, nuclear medicine, medical physics, and radiation oncology.

The agreement establishes a framework for joint activities including development of technical and educational resources, exchange of expertise and best practice, research and training initiatives, and quality management activities, according to the BIR.

A key focus will be supporting capacity building in low and middle-income countries, including support for the IAEA's Rays of Hope initiative, which aims to expand access to cancer care worldwide through the development of regional Anchor Centres, the organizations said.
