Dear CT Insider,

Exciting new research involving the use of CT was on display at the three-day European Society of Cardiovascular Radiology annual congress, which began in Antwerp, Belgium, on 24 October.

As part of our coverage from this meeting, we've got an article about a novel study conducted at one of the U.K.'s top medical imaging facilities. A team from Cambridge University Hospitals National Health Service Foundation Trust found that coronary artery calcification (CAC) is a frequent incidental finding in middle-aged adults undergoing chest CT, with more than 25% of CAC patients having moderate to severe disease. See our news report.

Image-guided interventional procedures continue to gain popularity, so you won't want to miss the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists' 22-page document about service provision, particularly staffing and workforce aspects. This report contains a wealth of practical and timely information, and, best of all, you can download it for free.

Also well worth checking out is IMV's inaugural "2019 Global Imaging Market Outlook Report." It focuses on CT, along with other leading modalities, and covers 10 key country and geographical markets in North America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, Japan, India, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

CT images also feature prominently at many multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Radiologists spend an increasing amount of time in these meetings, which can be an intimidating experience, but it's vital to ensure your views are heard, according to Dr. Giles Maskell. In his new column, he's got six tips on how to excel at MDTs.

Growing concerns about radiation exposure from CT exams have triggered major advances in dose reduction technologies, such as tube current modulation, iterative reconstruction algorithms, and automatic kV selection. We have an exclusive report on this subject from the recent European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics meeting in Valencia, Spain

This newsletter highlights only a few of the many articles posted recently in the CT Community. For the full list, check out the lineup below.
