
Canon Medical Systems has signed an agreement to purchase Danish digital x-ray system developer and manufacturer Nordisk Røntgen Teknik (NRT).
The deal would provide Canon with European-based technology, development, and manufacturing for multipurpose and motorized digital radiography (DR) imaging systems, according to the vendor. A 45-year-old company based in Aarhus, NRT offers radiography/fluoroscopy systems as well as general radiography systems.
In addition to adding its high-end systems to Canon's DR portfolio for the global market, NRT is expected to apply its experience with technology, customer satisfaction, and medical regulatory compliance to enhance Canon's existing x-ray products, the companies said. NRT will also continue operating under its own name.
The acquisition will be completed upon receipt of necessary approval procedures, according to Canon. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
