Powered by its nuclear imaging products, radiotherapy and radioisotope developer Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products of Berlin set a sales record in the first quarter of 2009 (end-March 31).
Sales increased 71% to 24 million euros ($31.2 million U.S.), compared with 14 million euros ($18.2 million U.S.) in the first quarter of 2008. Profit increased to 2.2 million euros ($2.8 million U.S.), more than double the profit of the same quarter a year ago.
In the company's Nuclear Imaging and Industry segment, sales increased to 12.6 million euros ($16.4 million U.S.), compared with 5.9 million euros ($7.7 million U.S.) in the first quarter of 2008. The segment also contributed 1.6 million euros ($2 million U.S.) to the company's first-quarter profit after tax.
For the current year, the company expects sales to reach approximately 100 million euros ($130 million U.S.).
