European debt crisis hits PACS, RIS, CVIS markets

The expansion of the European market for PACS, RIS, and cardiovascular information systems (CVIS) has been hindered by the debt crisis and radiology payment cuts in the continent.

That's according to a new report published by Decision Resources Group, which found that budget constraints have led to deferred purchases of new and replacement PACS, RIS, and CVIS for many countries in 2013.

The report also discovered the cancellation of a significant number of public tenders for these systems, particularly in the more severely affected markets in Italy and Spain.

As European economies recover, systems sales will rebound, but PACS, RIS, and CVIS companies will still need to pursue aggressive pricing strategies to remain competitive, according to the report.
