Toshiba partners with Walton Centre

Toshiba Medical Systems has formed a two-year neurosciences research and development partnership with the Walton Neuroscience Research Centre in Liverpool, U.K.

The partnership will investigate new developments in neuroscience scanning applications and protocols using Toshiba's Aquilion One CT scanner, according to the vendor.

The research project will investigate three applications, including the development of a low-contrast CT cerebral angiogram that would use only one-third of the typical CT contrast dose, Toshiba said. The researchers will also seek to develop a dynamic CT angiogram protocol to produce high-quality images of the whole brain in less than half a second.

In addition, the Walton team will investigate and identify recurrent tumor tissue against treatment-related tissue change in order to track recovery more accurately, Toshiba said. The research program includes the funding of a research fellow, direct consultancy, and neuroscience application development assistance from Toshiba.
