Charité and Siemens Healthineers partner on preventive care

The Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Charité) and Siemens Healthineers will collaborate on preventive medicine projects, with the aim of promoting research and patient-centered preventive care while reducing healthcare costs.

In a joint statement, the two organizations said that their initial project focus will be cardiovascular diseases, the leading cause of mortality in Germany. The partnership aims to develop screening programs as well as risk scoring and profiles to identify groups at risk of cardiovascular diseases.

In addition, they plan to develop new imaging techniques and AI-supported approaches for more precise visualization to enable earlier diagnosis and treatment, as well as timely intervention for high-risk but reversible vascular changes.

The planned research projects also include the development of a "digital twin,” a digital replica of an individual that includes relevant data and characteristics that can be used to simulate the person’s health conditions and therapies, test preventive and treatment approaches, or simulate disease progression to gain a better understanding of the patient’s condition.
