Varian promotes 1st TrueBeam sale in France

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems announced that the Cancer Research Center of Languedoc-Roussillon at the Centre Val d'Aurelle in Montpelier has used its newly commissioned TrueBeam radiotherapy treatment system on its first patient.

The Centre Val d'Aurelle provides radiotherapy treatments for 2,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year, and is the first site in France to offer TrueBeam treatments. The system will be used to treat 20 patients daily, and the first patient treated was a 19-year-old with a brain tumor.

Two additional TrueBeam devices, including a TrueBeam STx configured specifically for stereotactic radiosurgical treatments, are in the process of being installed and commissioned, the company reported.
