Agfa Healthcare is using the venue of the 2011 Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) later this week to introduce the newest version of its Impax for Nuclear Medicine PACS. The EANM meeting is being held 15 to 19 October in Birmingham, U.K.
Impax for Nuclear Medicine consolidates images and data across a wide range of modalities and departments, integrating them into a single IT platform. Its specialized functionalities include processing, reading, and reporting of all nuclear medicine, SPECT, PET, and multimodality images.
The new system delivers increased efficiency to nuclear medicine departments with its ability to handle complex scheduling requirements, according to Agfa. These can include comprehensive resource planning and scheduling across multiple departments. The system can also be integrated with a nuclear medicine department's hot lab management system to digitize and automate the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and registration of radiation dose.
New features that will be demonstrated in Birmingham will focus on usability, workflow, and productivity, according to Erik Gielen, business manager of nuclear medicine in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
