IT and software development firm Vertex in Healthcare has launched a radiology information system in the U.K.
VRIS aims to automate and streamline radiology workflow and helps department staff deliver timely imaging reports. It can increase workflow by between 30% and 40%, according to the firm. It also includes a portal that helps patients track imaging reports and book and manage appointments.
The new system is designed to support strategic decisions, to highlight bottlenecks, and to indicate where resources should be focused, Vertex in Healthcare said. It does this by providing radiology departments and imaging networks with detailed intelligence to help inform important decisions on how services are managed and configured.
Embedded algorithms also guide and streamline input from users, the vendor noted. Radiologists and reporting radiographers can also use VRIS to review and enter patient information, order additional examinations, and create complex reports.
