Tomosynthesis can replace CT for many chest exams
A new study by Swedish radiologists performed under real-world conditions indicates that digital chest tomosynthesis can replace CT for a number of lung exams, saving both money and radiation dose. The research confirms previous studies on the role tomo can play in carving out a middle ground between CT and conventional chest x-ray.

4-scan PET/MRI exams improve breast imaging
Austrian researchers added PET/CT to a package of three MRI sequences to create fused PET/MR images, which they found aided in the differentiation of suspicious breast lesions, according to a new study published online in Clinical Cancer Research.

German study gives photon-counting mammography high marks
German researchers found that mammography screening with a photon-counting digital mammography system turned in higher cancer detection rates at lower radiation doses than conventional digital mammography units in a real-world screening environment, according to a new study in Radiology.
