SoR seeks researchers for radiotherapy study

The U.K. Society of Radiographers (SoR) is seeking expressions of interest from researchers to lead a national study on skin care practices in radiotherapy services.

The proposed project, funded through the College of Radiographers Industry Partnership Scheme (CoRIPS), aims to map current skin care advice and product recommendations across radiotherapy care pathways, assess alignment with SoR guidance, and conduct a systematic review of literature related to products and approaches in use, the society said.

This project is intended as a research study rather than an audit or service evaluation, using survey-based data collection, the SoR added.

The project was spurred by anecdotal evidence that radiotherapy services across the U.K. are recommending or using commercial skin care products that fall outside current guidance, with limited clarity on the evidence behind these decisions, according to the SoR.

The findings from the project are intended to inform updates to the society's Radiation Dermatitis Guidelines for Radiotherapy Healthcare Professionals.

The project will be supported through a dedicated CoRIPS research grant, with funding available in line with scheme limits, the SoR added.

Applicants must be U.K.-based and able to demonstrate capacity for academic leadership, ethical approval, survey-based research design, and patient and public involvement.

More information, including details on the application process, can be found online on the CoRIPS page or at this link.
