Belgian medical technology company Xeos has received the CE mark for its Aura 10 PET/CT specimen scanner for use in operating rooms.

The Aura 10 is the first PET/CT specimen scanner for use in operating rooms, according to the company. The scanner is mobile and offers surgeons and imaging specialists the ability to acquire high-quality images in the operating room within 10 minutes after excision without having to transport samples to radiology or pathology departments during surgery.

The Aura 10 scanner made its debut at the London Breast Meeting in September 2021 and will again be on display at the 23rd ASBrS Annual Meeting to be held from 6 to 11 April in Las Vegas, NV.

"We are convinced that the Aura 10 will play a vital role in providing instant confidence for surgeons who want to ensure complete tumor removal during tissue- and nerve-sparing procedures," said Xeos co-founder and chief medical officer Vincent Keereman, PhD, in a news release.
