The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has issued a statement confirming that ECR 2020 will take place as scheduled, despite concerns over the coronavirus and possible travel restrictions. The organizers said they have received no cancellations yet from China.

The World Health Organization is not currently recommending any travel or trade restrictions based on the information available regarding the coronavirus, according to the ESR. The society said there are no confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Austria, and no ECR 2020 registrants have changed their travel plans due to the virus.

A total of 524 Chinese delegates attended ECR 2019, and China was the 13th highest ranked country in terms of attendees. Another 58 delegates came from Hong Kong.

For ECR 2020 attendees who may encounter obstacles in traveling or wish to refrain from traveling, the full congress will be available online via the ECR Live platform, the ESR said.
