Higher cumulative tumor absorbed doses of lutetium-177 (Lu-177) edotreotide in patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) were associated with improved objective response rates (ORR), according to data presented at the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) meeting.

Anthime Flaus, MD, of the Hospices Civils de Lyon in Bron, France, gave an oral presentation October 20 featuring a late-stage dose-response analysis from ITM Isotope Technologies Munich's phase III COMPETE trial. The findings were drawn from 106 evaluable patients who received four cycles of Lu-177 edotreotide therapy.

ORR climbed from 12% in the lowest dose quartile to 64% in the highest, with three complete responses in patients receiving a cumulative tumor absorbed dose above 86.1 gray (Gy), according to the results. In multivariate models, cumulative dose and tumor type were the main predictors of response. Lesion-level analysis also identified a statistically significant association between absorbed dose and response.

"Understanding this dose-response relationship provides important evidence that could potentially support the development of more individualized radiopharmaceutical treatment approaches, with the goal of optimizing patient care and outcomes," Flaus noted.
