It's time for the medical imaging community to get ready to celebrate the International Day of Radiology (IDOR) on 8 November, say the organizers of the 14th edition.

“We encourage all radiologists, radiographers, radiological technologists, professionals in other related fields and patient groups to join together on this day to recognize and promote the essential role that radiology plays in the patient journey,” the groups said on the IDoR website.
The day is a joint initiative between the ESR, RSNA, and American College of Radiology. It also benefits from the full cooperation and involvement of the International Society of Radiology, as well as umbrella organizations on all continents, the groups noted.
"We’d love to see how you’re celebrating! Send us your photos - Show us how you and your colleagues are marking IDoR 2025 at your workplace. Email your pictures and a short description to [email protected]. Post on social media - Share your moments online and tag them with #IDoR2025 to join the global conversation," the organizers said.
The date of 8 November was selected as the day to celebrate “the seismic impact of radiology on medicine” because that is the day in 1895 that Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered x-rays.
According to the ESR, "On 8 November, let’s make radiology visible to the world. Be active on social media, use #IDoR2025, and help spread the word about the essential role of medical imaging. Our favourite posts, photos, and tweets will be featured on ESR’s official channels - so don’t miss your chance to be part of the celebration!"
