Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips said that the European Society of Cardiology has added instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) to its recently updated guidelines on myocardial revascularization.

The new guidelines provide a class IA recommendation -- the highest recommendation -- for iFR alongside fractional flow reserve (FFR) for the objective assessment of the hemodynamic relevance of coronary lesions, Philips said. The pressure-derived index is unique to Philips, according to the vendor.
