The Radiology Department at Hospital Morales Meseguer in Murcia, Spain, has successfully renewed the European Training Assessment Program (ETAP) 2.0 certification for its postgraduate unit, 10 years after its initial accreditation.
Other than Morales Meseguer, ETAP 2.0 certification is held by only two other radiology departments in Spain: the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona and the Hospital Universitario de La Princesa in Madrid.
To be accredited, the department had to meet the requirements of the European curriculum proposed by the ESR, which the team did without having the five-year training offered in the EU, Dr. Juana Plasencia, the current coordinator of the teaching team at the Morales Meseguer Hospital in Murcia, explained to the Spanish Society of Radiology (SERAM).
Plasencia explained that the accreditation renewal entailed a rigorous evaluation of the department’s training processes, facilities, and equipment, along with surveys and interviews. The evaluation team then issued a report listing the program’s strengths, weaknesses, and areas in which the team could improve.
The original release (in Spanish) is available on SERAM’s website.
