Medexprim partners with Sword Group

Image archive software developer Medexprim and consulting firm Sword Group have formed a partnership aimed at helping cancer centers and large hospitals to combine clinical and imaging data for big data research projects.

Sword Group has developed ConsoRe, a tool that allows cancer centers to pool global data from millions of cancer patients and to create unified and harmonized patient cohorts, Medexprim said. It's currently in use at five institutions with Unicancer, an initiative that federates 20 French nonprofit private cancer hospitals.

Medexprim offers Radiomics Enabler, a biomedical imaging package that automates the qualification and extraction of relevant imaging sequences from any PACS, anonymizes them, and routes them to a research pipeline, according to the vendor. Combining both products enables users to pool together clinical and imaging data for a patient cohort defined in a clinical data warehouse, Medexprim said. It can also create a cohort of patients based on imaging features. The goal of the collaboration is to facilitate translational research and speed up access to personalized medicine for cancer patients, according to the company.

Medexprim and Sword Group will demonstrate their combined technology at this week's Journées Francophones de Radiologie (JFR 2017) congress in Paris.
