Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

When it comes to prostate cancer, Freiburg University in southwest Germany’s Black Forest has a lofty reputation. It gives priority to training and education, research, and patient care in this area, as shown by the creation of a specialist Prostate Cancer Center.

On Wednesday, a team from Freiburg published the results of a new study about the sensitivity of PI-RADS v2.1 for clinically significant prostate cancer detection. This analysis merits a close look.

In breast CT, the timing of contrast agent administration can be crucial. A highly respected Dutch team has investigated this topic, and it unveiled its results at the recent European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) annual meeting in Aberdeen, U.K.

Another scientific highlight at the EUSOBI meeting was a presentation from Rome about the relationship between the use of assisted reproductive technologies and breast cancer risk. This has been a contentious issue over the past few years.

Meanwhile, the findings of an important Belgian cardiac study were published in European Radiology last weekend. The authors evaluated a deep-learning model for assessing vessel-specific coronary ischemia compared with fractional flow reserve.

To end this newsletter, I’d urge you to read an uplifting report from the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) annual congress in Heraklion, Crete.
