Seventy percent of Cameroon's under-17 football players have failed MRI age tests mandated by former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker and Fecafoot President Samuel Eto'o, according to a report posted on 5 January by BBC Sport.
Thirty allegedly under-17 players trying out for a regional African Cup of Nations team at a training camp in Mbankomo underwent the MRI exams, and 21 failed the test (that is, they were shown to be older than 17). Coach Jean-Pierre Fiala is "struggling to find replacements," the BBC said.
Cameroon is set to host the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo for the Central African Football Federations' Union qualifiers between 12 and 24 January, with two teams moving on to April's Under-17 Nations Cup to be held in Algeria, according to the BBC.
