Swedish radiation therapy firm Elekta reported a slight slump in its sales and profit for the firm's fiscal 2007 second quarter (end-October 31).
For the period, the Stockholm-based Elekta reported net sales of 1.018 billion kronor ($148.9 million U.S.), a decline of 5% compared with the company's fiscal 2006 net sales of 1.071 billion kronor ($156.7 million) posted for the same period last year.
In addition, net profit also showed a downturn, to 44 million kronor ($6.45 million) from the 78 million kronor ($11.43 million) posted in the 2006 second quarter.
Although results for the second quarter were weaker than the same period last year, the company reported that net sales for the first six months of the year have increased 4%, and profit for that period has also improved compared with the first six months of fiscal 2006. For the fiscal year, Elekta said it expects sales growth of 10% to 15%, and that operating margin for the year is expected to be in the range of 11% to 14%.
