Swedish team highlights success of MRI safety course

The Swedish Alliance for MR Safety (SAMS) recently held a national MR safety course in Linköping, Sweden, that drew professionals from across the country, including radiographers, radiologists, and MR physicists.

"MR safety does not have to be expensive, but accidents are," SAMS said, describing the course's aims.

Sessions also addressed passive and active implants, scanner-induced noise and hearing impairment, and MR safety in prenatal diagnostics, according to SAMS. The course included presentations from GE HealthCare, Philips, and Siemens Healthineers on system-dependent MR safety aspects.

SAMS was formed from three Swedish professional associations and regularly updates its national MR safety recommendations.
