Stephen Harden takes the helm at RCR

Dr. Stephen Harden began his new role as president of the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) this week. His first order of business is a membership survey to guide the RCR's work and upcoming key decisions.

"In our last survey in 2023, you told us that you were proud to be part of the RCR but wanted us to be more influential and visible," Harden wrote in an RCR post issued on 4 September. "We have increased our media coverage and our profile among politicians while representing you on the 10-year Health Plan, Leng Review, deployment of AI, recruitment freezes, and much more."

Harden takes the helm of the RCR after serving as the society's vice-president of clinical radiology. A consultant in cardiothoracic radiology at University Hospital Southampton since 2005, he is noted as the first RCR Travelling Cardiac Professor and has also held top leadership positions at the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging and British Institute of Radiology.

Conducted by Research by Design, the RCR's new survey is short and must be completed by 6 October. Members should look for an email from Research by Design, the RCR noted.
