Bruker has acquired XGLab, an Italian company that develops and manufactures analytical instruments for x-ray spectrometry and imaging, as well as advanced electronics for x-ray and gamma radiation detection.
XGLab was established in 2009 as a spin-off of Italy's Politecnico di Milano technical university. XGLab introduced its ELIO portable small-spot x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer in 2012, followed by the Crono macro-XRF scanner in 2014 and the Xraman combined XRF and Raman analyzer more recently.
XGLab will continue to operate under its current name and management, the firms said. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
