Lack of IV access contributes to CT scanner downtime
Failing to ensure patients receive appropriate intravenous (IV) access when they leave the emergency unit or hospital ward before a contrast-enhanced CT scan often results in significant waste of resources, a U.K. audit has found. The researchers have produced a five-point action plan to address the problem.

Patient dies after mix-up over CT scan
An inquest has heard a 28-year-old man with a heart disorder and chest pain died two days after a doctor at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, U.K., viewed the wrong CT scan and sent him home. The radiology department has now changed its procedures and will soon upgrade the PACS, according to a report posted on 19 October by BBC News.
