Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

Photon-counting CT has come of age in the management of cancer patients, judging by the latest information shared by a team from a leading Italian facility.

The stunning clinical images in this week’s top story speak for themselves. Put simply, they underline the advantages of the technology over conventional systems.

What are the most significant market trends in the ultrasound sector? What impact is AI having on the modality? Two analysts from Signify Research have addressed these and other questions in a special report.

In other news, a research group from University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands has demonstrated the clinical feasibility and diagnostic utility of F-18 flurpiridaz PET for routine myocardial perfusion imaging in a clinical setting.

When it was released in August 2025, ChatGPT-5 generated great enthusiasm, but it remains far from being ready for clinical application or standalone diagnostic use, according to specialists. There’s still an urgent need to continue performing careful, model- and version-specific evaluations before considering any integration into routine practice, they say.

On a more positive note, a new strategy now exists for diagnosing tuberculosis in low-resource, high-incidence settings: Photographing film x-rays to create digital files and then feeding them to AI.
