French AI startup adds PSMA model to PET/CT AI assistant

Nuclear medicine AI startup Paire has added a new prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) model to its PET/CT AI assistant, Pionus.

Pionus is designed to automatically detect, segment, and quantify anomalies on F-18 FDG PET/CT exams and can now do the same with gallium-68-labeled prostate cancer radiotracers, the company said. PSMA-PET/CT is becoming a reference standard for initial staging, suspicion of recurrence, and pretherapeutic evaluation prior to radioligand therapy, Paire said.

The company noted that its software won first place at the DEEP-PSMA Challenge 2025, a challenge organized by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Center in Melbourne, Australia, under the aegis of the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society. The award was presented on 23 September.
