SyntheticMR adds myelin volume feature to SyMRI software

Swedish medical imaging software developer SyntheticMR has introduced at RSNA 2016 a new feature for its SyMRI postprocessing software that enables automatic quantification of myelin volume in the brain.

Quantification of myelin allows clinicians to follow myelination in the developing brain and monitor myelin degeneration in patients with demyelinating and neurodegenerative disorders, the firm said.

The new REMyDI (Rapid Estimation of Myelin for Diagnostic Imaging) allows clinicians to acquire automatic volume measurement of myelin from a single five- to six-minute quantitative MRI scan with automatic postprocessing completed in less than 10 seconds.

The REMyDI feature is available in the SyMRI Research Edition option and will be available for clinical use in the SyMRI Neuro option in 2017, SyntheticMR said.
