Medica announces order for Sectra PACS

U.K. teleradiology provider Medica has revealed plans to acquire a new PACS from Sectra that will be applied across imaging modalities.

Medica said that it plans to use the workflow allocation tools of the system to automate processes that are currently being done manually, including direction of interpretation to the appropriate personnel. The company will have the option of adding artificial intelligence (AI) tools from Sectra to meet its needs in the future.

Some 450 radiologists and radiographers work for Medica, which provides services teleradiology services to more than 100 hospitals in the U.K. The contract for its current PACS expires in 2022.

The company also announced this week that Dr. Robert Lavis has been appointed group medical director to succeed Dr. Stephen Davies upon his retirement in May 2021.
