The American College of Radiology (ACR) has named Inselspital, the University Hospital of Bern in Switzerland, as the first international institution to participate in the ACR Recognized Center for Healthcare-AI (ARCH AI) program for AI governance in radiology.
Developed by the ACR and originally U.S.-based, ARCH AI aims to help healthcare organizations establish formal governance across the AI lifecycle from evaluation and adoption to ongoing clinical oversight. ARCH-AI pushes for transparency, quality, and sound clinical judgment when integrating AI into radiology practice, the college said.
By implementing ARCH AI, Inselspital has formalized a structured approach to AI oversight that is aligned with clinical priorities, regulatory expectations, and quality assurance practices.
The ACR said it will continue working with international partners to expand the reach of ARCH AI and support healthcare organizations worldwide.
