The European computerized physician order entry (CPOE) market is expected to reach approximately 120 million euros ($173.5 million U.S.) in 2017, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan.
The higher adoption rate of healthcare information systems (HIS), electronic medical records (EMRs), and other e-health services has also encouraged growth in the computerized physician order entry (CPOE) market, which was approximately 75 million euros ($106 million U.S.) in 2010, the firm said. Integrating CPOE with other existing e-health services is the biggest trend expected to support accelerated growth from 2013 onward, the firm added.
At the moment, CPOE systems are experiencing a slow growth rate due to the initial costs involved with the software, so reducing initial expenditures and integration costs will propel growth, Frost & Sullivan said.
