Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,
Deciding on a lineup of top stories for the first 15 years of AuntMinnieEurope was a very tough, but also extremely rewarding, task. There’s been so much news to report since the launch of the website at ECR 2011. I was literally spoilt for choice.
The final list is only a personal selection. I hope you enjoy this stroll down memory lane. During this period of time, it’s been a real privilege to write about the fascinating and fast-changing world of medical imaging and to serve the European radiology community. I’ve loved every minute.
Can AI perform as well as radiology residents? Not yet, according to a new Swiss study about intracranial hemorrhage detection on unenhanced CT in an emergency room setting.
ECR 2026 begins on Wednesday, 4 March. You can get prepared for the congress by reading our CT Preview, which includes a European market roundup. Also, don’t miss the insights of top researcher Prof. Marion Smits, who told us what she’s looking forward to most about this year’s meeting.
Sustainability will be a central theme of ECR 2026, just as it was last year. Austrian researchers have published study findings that show significant solid waste is generated by neurointerventional procedures.
In other news, a teleradiology company finds itself at the heart of an important medicolegal case in the U.K. An inquest heard that CT reporting was outsourced to Everlight Radiology, which provides scans for various National Health Service hospitals.
Looking ahead to next week, our live coverage of ECR 2026 will begin on 4 March. Our editorial and publishing team will be onsite in Vienna. My colleagues very much look forward to covering Europe’s premier congress.
