Siemens Healthineers presented its new Mammomat B.brilliant mammography system at the recent European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) annual meeting in Valencia, Spain.

The system has wide-angle tomosynthesis, where the tube moves around the breast at a 50° angle. Siemens also highlighted that the system has a scan time of around five seconds and creates a 3D image with high-depth resolution to detect abnormalities and microcalcifications in breast tissue.

The company also highlighted the following features from B.brilliant: clear visibility of patient information and work steps on the display monitor, a ComfortMove function for operator ergonomics, and a positioning laser for scan preparation.

The vendor also noted the system's use of flying focal spot technology to prevent blurring effects caused by tube movements during tomosynthesis.
