KA Imaging has received a $450,000 INOVAIT Pilot Fund award to develop an AI-based triage tool for detecting cardiothoracic abnormalities on spectral x-ray images.
The project will use data from the company's Reveal 35C detector with SpectralDR technology, which performs single-exposure dual-energy imaging. The intended tool would flag suspected findings, including pulmonary nodules, consolidation, pleural fluid, and pneumothorax, and prioritize cases for review by non-radiologist clinicians before and after image-guided interventions, according to the company. A demonstration is expected in 2027.
The project involves a research collaboration with the University of Waterloo, KA Imaging noted. INOVAIT is Canada’s image-guided therapy and AI commercialization network.
