Radiologists are fully committed to taking part in the industrial action by private practice physicians that began on 5 January, according to the National Federation of Private Practice Radiologists (FNMR).
“The current mobilization is not a fit of anger, but the culmination of repeated warnings," said Dr. Jean-Philippe Masson, president of the FNMR, in a 7 January statement. "Radiologists have been involved in this movement from the beginning and will continue to defend responsible, patient-centered private practice medicine.”
Following a landmark first day of strike action on November 10, 2025, radiologists are once again mobilizing alongside the entire profession for a program of action taking place from 5 to 15 January. They will participate in the national healthcare demonstration on Saturday, 10 January in Paris, the FNMR noted.
At issue is what the FNMR describes as unilateral decisions imposed by the National Health Insurance within the framework of the Social Security budget and the 2025-2027 imaging plan. The removal of Article 24 from the 2026 Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS) was a political signal, with the government acknowledging that unilateralism is not a viable approach, the FNMR said.
However, the government failed to follow through on its reasoning by approving Articles 77 and 78 of the 2026 Social Security Financing Bill (LFSS) and the 2025-2027 imaging plan, both of which are based on arbitrary decisions and jeopardize access to care.
The FNMR said it reaffirms its willingness to resume constructive discussions as soon as a change in approach is initiated, based on consultation, the appropriateness of care, and the best interests of patients.
