The 2012 European Connectathon for Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) successfully conducted more than 2,800 tests for interoperablity among 120 medical information systems, according to a statement from IHE-Europe.
The event, hosted in late May by IHE Suisse and held in Bern, consisted of a marathon testing of health information systems, IHE-Europe said. Three hundred and fifty software developers from 14 countries and 45 monitors for the testing marathon were connected through 600 meters of fiber cable and two kilometers of copper wire; by the end of the event, 2,935 tests were completed.
Part of the event included first-time testing of IHE profiles for Cross Enterprise Document Workflow (XDW) and Lab Analytic Workflow (LAW), intended to develop open protocols for interoperability among healthcare information systems, IHE-Europe said.
